The People in Luther's Environment

Luther und seine ,Mitstreiter'

Luther and his Collaborators,
picture by Lucas Cranach the Younger,
son of Lucas Cranach the Elder.

Luther was not only dependent upon his colleague's help and organization while he was at the Wartburg, but he trusted the advice and ability of his supporters.
These include:
... 'Germany's Principal Teacher' Philipp Melanchthon, who during Luther's absence and after his death continued to lead the reformation, formed Luther's ideas theologically ("Loci Communes" and "Confessio Augustana") and also worked with changing the school and university system which gave him his name;
...also Johannes Bugenhagen who organized much of the reformation within Germany and Scandanavia.
We do not want to forget Luther's friend and fellow reformer, Justus Jonas (1493 - 1555).
An important mediator between Luther and his sovereign Friederich the Wise was the secret secretary George Spalatin.
Naturally, how could it be otherwise, you will also find information about Katharina von Bora, Luther's wife, here.
